Senior Program Officer, Early Childhood Education
Elliot Haspel joined Robins in 2018 as Program Officer, Education Policy and Research. He oversees the bulk of the Foundation’s early childhood education portfolio, with a particular focus on systems change and maximizing community impact through research-backed policy and advocacy.
Elliot is a nationally-recognized child & family policy expert and commentator. He is the author of Crawling Behind: America’s Childcare Crisis and How to Fix It. Elliot has appeared on television as an analyst, including on The PBS Newshour with Judy Woodruff, and his writings regularly appear in a wide variety of top publications, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Atlantic.
Prior to joining Robins, Elliot served as Policy Analyst at the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation. He has held multiple roles within the education sector, beginning his career as a 4th grade public school teacher. Elliot holds an B.A. in History from the University of Virginia and an M.Ed. in Education Policy from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. Elliot lives in Richmond’s Northside with his wife and two daughters.
